A voice-activated teleprompter that follows you, not a timer
A fixed scroll speed is a guess. You speed up on lines you know, slow down on the tricky ones, and pause to let a point land. A timer cannot do any of that, so you end up watching the text instead of the lens.
ViralPrompter's AI Voice Sync listens while you read and moves the script to match what you are saying, so the next line is always where your eyes expect it.
How Voice Sync works
- The microphone feeds a speech recognizer that runs on your phone, not on a server.
- Each recognized word is matched against your script, and the words you have already said are highlighted.
- The script scrolls to keep your current line in the reading zone, just under the camera.
On-device recognition
On iPhone, ViralPrompter uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. On Android, it uses a streaming speech model that is downloaded once per language and then runs offline. Either way, your voice is not uploaded to scroll the script.
Languages, including Chinese, Japanese and Korean
Many voice teleprompters split a script on spaces, which breaks languages that do not use them. ViralPrompter matches Chinese, Japanese and Korean character by character, so following works in those scripts too.
On Android, Voice Sync currently supports English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Thai, Vietnamese, Arabic and Indonesian. On iPhone, it supports the languages your device can recognize on-device. In other languages, the prompter scrolls at a steady speed you control.
It keeps working while you record
On Android, the recorder and Voice Sync share one microphone stream, so following the script never interferes with the audio in your video. If recognition loses you — a noisy room or an ad-lib — the prompter keeps a steady scroll instead of freezing, and catches up when you return to the script.
Tips for the best results
- Download your language's speech model before the shoot, while you have a good connection.
- Record in a reasonably quiet room and keep the phone's microphone pointed toward you.
- Speak at your normal pace. Voice Sync works best when you talk, not when you over-enunciate.
- Keep lines short so a glance is enough. See our guide to keeping eye contact while reading. How to keep eye contact while reading
Also on Android: read over other apps
Voice Sync also works in the floating teleprompter, which sits on top of TikTok, Instagram, a camera app or a video call. Floating teleprompter for Android
Frequently asked questions
- Does a voice-activated teleprompter need the internet?
- Not in ViralPrompter. On Android you download each language's model once; on iPhone, Apple's on-device recognition is used. After that, Voice Sync works offline.
- Is my voice recorded or uploaded?
- Speech is recognized on your phone to move the script. It is not uploaded for scrolling. Your audio is only saved when you choose to record a video.
- What happens if I go off script?
- Ad-libs are fine. On Android, the prompter keeps a steady scroll while it cannot match your words and locks back on once you return to the script. On any device you can drag the text by hand at any time.
- Is there a free voice-activated teleprompter?
- Voice Sync is in the iPhone and Android apps, and every feature is included in the 7-day free trial. Our free web teleprompter scrolls at a speed you set and needs no sign-up.
